Speech for the 30th Anniversary Celebration of the Company

Ladies and gentlemen, good morning! Today, we’ve gathered here together to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Wuxi Yongkaida Gear Co., Ltd., to reminisce about Yongkaida’s journey of growth, and to look forward to an even more vibrant and brilliant future for Yongkaida. Thirty years ago, in June 1987, with approval from the Wuxi Municipal Planning Commission, the Wuxi Mechanical Processing Equipment Factory—a school-run enterprise affiliated with Wuxi No. 2 Industrial School—was established. In 1989, the enterprise was renamed Wuxi No. 2 Gear Factory. On January 10, 2001, the enterprise underwent restructuring and was transformed into Wuxi Yongkaida Gear Co., Ltd. Over the past 30 years, the factory has weathered a wide range of challenges and risks.

  Good morning, everyone! Today, we’ve gathered here together to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Wuxi Yongkaida Gear Co., Ltd. Let’s take a moment to reminisce about Yongkaida’s journey of growth and look forward to an even more vibrant and brilliant future for Yongkaida.
  Thirty years ago, in June 1987, the Wuxi Mechanical Processing Equipment Factory—a school-run enterprise affiliated with the Second Industrial School of Wuxi City—was approved by the Wuxi Municipal Planning Commission. In 1989, the enterprise was renamed the Wuxi Second Gear Factory. On January 10, 2001, the enterprise underwent a restructuring and became Wuxi Yongkaida Gear Co., Ltd. Over the past 30 years, the factory has weathered a wide range of risks and challenges, evolving from a small workshop-style processing enterprise with annual sales of just 200,000 yuan into a highly advanced manufacturer equipped with cutting-edge technology and management systems, boasting a highly qualified workforce capable of producing high-precision, high-quality products. Today, the company enjoys an excellent market reputation and boasts annual sales of 190 million yuan as a specialized producer of gears and tensioners.
  Looking back, why was it that a workshop-style factory—with zero funds on the books and zero market presence, relying on just a dozen dilapidated pieces of equipment and struggling even to support its 48 employees—managed to grow into a well-known enterprise in Wuxi?
  1. Relying on a proactive and enterprising mindset, as well as a spirit of hard work, perseverance, and never giving up:
  We started the factory in 1987 with absolutely no financial support from our superiors. At the time, we had zero capital and zero market presence. The most pressing issue was how to pay wages. Even the leadership of the Second Industrial School at that time had prepared to step in and pay two months’ wages on behalf of the school-run factory. Back then, we claimed to have 48 employees, but only 10 of them were actually capable of operating machine tools. One-third of the workforce consisted of older employees who lacked both formal education and technical skills. Faced with these daunting challenges, we didn’t back down—we actively set out to find markets and solve the problem of feeding our workers. Since we had no money, many employees worked during the day and spent their evenings helping with the factory’s relocation. Thanks to the support of the school and the hard work of all the employees, the factory not only managed to pay its own wages but also completed the relocation of over 200 tons of equipment entirely on its own initiative, spending just 2,400 yuan in the process.
  In 1993, we seized the opportunity to produce intermediate shaft gears for engines that would be supplied to Shanghai Volkswagen. Due to the limited conditions at the time, the entire prototype manufacturing process... The process was fraught with difficulties. The blank for a single gear weighed 0.3 kilograms, and it took two tons of material before the first qualified product was finally produced.
  In 1994, with liabilities and shareholders’ equity totaling only 1.64 million yuan, we raised 4.5 million yuan through fundraising and borrowing to invest in the production workshop for Volkswagen gears. If this investment had failed, not only would the Second Gear Factory have gone bankrupt, but it would also have brought about numerous complications. In May 1995, we successfully began mass-supplying products to Shanghai Volkswagen, and the factory thus entered a path of normal development.
  II. Relying on a spirit of solidarity based on mutual understanding and mutual assistance:
  Thirty years ago, at the very beginning of the factory’s establishment, the employees of Erchi already understood that the survival of the enterprise depended on the unity and solidarity of all its staff. At that time, they set forth the work goal of “caring for each other, understanding each other, and supporting each other to create a harmonious working environment.” Relying on the power of unity, they overcame numerous challenges during the early stages of the factory’s founding, ensuring its survival. Over the past 30 years, mutual understanding and support throughout the company have enabled us to successfully complete many difficult tasks, resolve various conflicts in corporate management, and foster relaxed and harmonious interpersonal relationships—allowing the company to devote its limited resources as effectively as possible to production and business operations. This year, 2017, we will rewrite history by achieving annual sales of 190 million yuan.
  3. A spirit of diligent study, self-improvement, and relentless pursuit of progress.
  The employees of Yongkaida Company do not have a high level of education— their highest degree is only a bachelor’s. Nevertheless, the people of Yongkaida possess a spirit of self-improvement and perseverance, diligently pursuing knowledge, never hesitating to ask questions when they don’t understand something, and approaching all challenges in business operations with objectivity and seriousness. Relying on the strength of their team, they have successfully tackled one difficult problem after another in production and management activities. In the process of overcoming these challenges, they have continuously enhanced their own capabilities and cultivated a highly capable team of management professionals and technical personnel who are truly ready for battle.
  Management levels have been steadily improving over the past 30 years: In 1998, the company successfully obtained ISO 9002 quality system certification; in 2001, it passed the VDA6.1 QS9000 quality system certification issued by the German and U.S. automotive associations; in 2004, it achieved ISO/TS 16949 certification from the International Automotive Task Force; and in 2007, it obtained ISO14001 environmental management system certification.
  In terms of technological advancement:
  The company has consistently focused on upgrading and modernizing its technological equipment, acquiring a large number of world-class advanced devices. As a result, the company’s hardware facilities now rank among the most advanced in the industry. Thanks to its EA888 gear production line, the company has been recognized as an intelligent factory in Huishan District.
  We rely on methods such as ideological mobilization, policy incentives, and administrative intervention to encourage and arrange young employees to participate in programs aimed at enhancing their cultural foundations and professional expertise. As a result, our company has cultivated a group of highly respected skilled experts: Yongkaida has trained its own senior engineers and produced Wuxi’s Most Beautiful Craftsmen. Currently, the company boasts 2 senior engineers, 1 senior technician, and 7 technicians. Our employees have received provincial- and city-level honors for their skills. The company has been awarded 13 honors. Its skilled workers have won awards three times in city-level skills competitions and placed first five times in district-level skills competitions. The company holds 31 patents; has two nationally recognized new products; one product under the National Torch Program; and nine high-tech products certified by Jiangsu Province. The enterprise has been honored with the titles of “3A Credit Enterprise” and “3A Contract-Abiding and Trustworthy Enterprise” in Wuxi City, as well as “High-Tech Enterprise” in Jiangsu Province. The “Yongkaida” brand automotive gears and tensioners have been recognized as renowned brands in Wuxi City.
  In terms of market development: After 30 years of market exploration and adjustment, we have built a customer base characterized by advanced technology, cutting-edge management, leading quality, and high credibility—endowing us with strong market competitiveness.
  SAIC-Volkswagen Automobile Co., Ltd., FAW-Volkswagen Automobile Co., Ltd., Chery Automobile Co., Ltd., Shanghai Diesel Engine Co., Ltd., SAIC Roewe Automobile Co., Ltd., Swedish ATLAS COPCO Compressor Company, U.S. Ingersoll-Rand Company, and U.S. Sullair (Asia) Machinery Co., Ltd.
Our overseas clients include: Dresel Company of the United States, Sairwen Company, Quincy Compressor Company, Mele Automotive Parts Company of Germany, Phibro Automotive Parts Company, JCD Automotive Parts Company of France, and SKF Automotive Parts Company.
  A high-quality, highly competitive customer base provides Yongkaida Company with a guarantee of stable development.
  In line with national policies and market trends, we are also actively involved in the R&D and competition of transmission components for new-energy vehicles, opening up new market segments for the company’s next phase of development.
  In 2018, the company will complete construction of its own heat treatment workshop and expand its production area by 10,000 square meters, creating favorable conditions for the company’s new round of development.
  Comrades, all employees: The reason Yongkaida has been able to reach where it is today—becoming a modern enterprise with advanced process technology, comprehensive testing capabilities, stable market presence, and internal harmony and stability—is thanks to your diligent study and hard work.
